Rooted in the elegance of Baroque Music and the harmony of the golden ratio, De Gulden Snede is a newly found ensemble dedicated to the music from 17th to 19th centuries. Formed in The Hague, where our paths crossed during our studies in Koninklijk Conservatorium, we share a deep passion for historical performance and the intricate beauty of counterpoint. Our ensemble features 3 upper-String players (Violin&Viola) : Sonia (Tianyi) Huang from China, Phoebe Pan from Ireland and Mitra Muijen from the Netherlands, together with the continuo group: Sara Nakade (cello) from Japan, and Areli Cortes (harpsichord) from Mexico: all musicians from different corners of the world, united by a passion for early music’s mathematical perfection and expressive depth. We are also devoted to unearthing forgotten gems, and reviving overlooked works with fresh interpretations.
